Excuse #1 For Lack of Self-Care

Hey friends!

For a few weeks, I’ve been talking about the importance of self-care and self-love.

Self-care is defined by the International Self Care Organization as “what people do for themselves to establish and maintain health, and to prevent and deal with illness.”

Today, I want to talk about one of the top excuses people use that compromises their self-care.

SELF-CARE EXCUSE #1:  PEOPLE WILL STOP LIKING ME

Isn’t it peculiar how invested we can become in people’s opinions of us?

And the peculiarity doesn’t end there! Life choices, behavior patterns and beliefs have been molded to appease people in our life.

Makes you wonder when you look at your reflection in the mirror…

“Who am I really?”

And isn’t that ironic? The more concerned we are with people liking or not liking us, the less authentic and contrived we become, not realizing that true authenticity is what attracts people in the first place!

And what’s the end-result after years have slipped away in auto-pilot conformity?

  • Crippling regret
  • Worry
  • Stress
  • More fear
  • Guilt
  • And the list goes on!

That’s right, when all’s said and done, all we’re left with is an overwhelming feeling that we haven’t accomplished what our true selves were meant to.

I once heard an artist say “The only thing worse than death is a regret-filled coffin.”

Let that sink in.

AVOID using people-pleasing as an excuse to not prioritize self-care!

Healthy self-care is paramount and should take precedence over the risk of people not liking you.

I share here on Instagram how being afraid of people not liking us is the #1 excuse for lack of self-care!
