NEW QUIZ 📢  Which Archangel is BEST for You To Work With?

Does Everything Really Happen for a Reason?

When we are going through a difficult period in our lives, or are dealing with a crisis, it can feel like our lives are over. I’m sure that these last few months have felt very challenging for you, as they have for me, with the hurricanes, fires, earthquakes and, the most recent, the shooting in Vegas! During these challenging times, many well-meaning people will say things like “well, everything happens for a reason,” or “behind every gray cloud, there’s a silver lining.” Oftentimes, it is these types of statements that make us want to scream at the top of our lungs, “you just don’t understand, nothing will ever be the same” or “leave me alone … you have no idea.”
When we are in the midst of such periods, these age-old sayings can be difficult to hear, and even more difficult to believe. I get it. I have been the one to say it … and the one to scream … all at different times.
But, what if it were true? What if everything really does happen for a reason? What if we lived from a perspective that every experience that we have in life is designed to be an opportunity for growth, expansion, awareness, and dare it be said … for Love?
Most of us have, at some point in our lives, been lucky enough to have had some rough patches; but, experiences that, when looked back upon, can be seen with appreciation. Others have lived through downright catastrophes – where there seems to be no good reason whatsoever. Broken hearts, financial ruin, abuse or even the death of a loved one can leave us with more questions than answers. The why’s of it all, no doubt, cause pain, sadness, anger, illness and depression. We all see these challenges differently. For some, the pain is so devastating that they can’t get out of bed; while others can take what happened, and turn that energy into motivation. Why such different responses in similar circumstances?
It’s the way we choose to see things. That’s what makes the difference.
We have an opportunity, in every minute of every day, to see things as a challenge – or to see a gift. What appeared to be dire circumstances, can ultimately be an opportunity for blessings, synchronicities and miracles. But, in order to see the blessings, we have to change our perspective – by changing our experience of it.
So, how do we get there?
Asking these questions, with an open heart and mind, can get you there quickly:

  • What is the value of the experience?
  • What is the gift?
  • What have I learned?
  • How have I grown?

As human beings, it can be hard to believe that everything is happening for a higher and greater good when “bad” things do happen. However, when we have an opportunity to see it from a different perspective – often years down the road – it can change our lives for the better.
One example is a new client of mine that came to see me recently. I will call her Sally. Sally made an appointment with me for a mediumship reading because she was severely depressed and tired of living life that way. Her father had died the previous year and she was devastated. She felt lost without him. The loss had affected every aspect of her life and she was losing hope.
As we sat together, her father appeared to me. He shared things with her that only they would know. His humor came through … his “colorful” personality. These were things she had missed so much. He was making jokes and teasing her, and she felt as if he was right there with us. (He was 🙂 )
She was elated and full of life again. He even scolded her about her greatest fear – like a dad would – by saying it was nonsense. Her dad told her, rather directly, “Quit thinking I won’t be there to walk you down the aisle. Where else would I be when my baby is getting married?” She burst into tears. Hearing all of this confirmed for her that life exists after death. This experience reminded her that he is around, still participating in her life, just in a different form. She is now embracing her new relationship with her father – looking for the signs from him, and recognizing the ones that were always there, but she just couldn’t see them in her grief.
She is now happy and at peace.
Even in the darkest moments of our lives, a divine hand is at work. As we open to this possibility, we have an opportunity to embrace a new way of seeing things. Are you ready to live from a place where there truly are No Mistakes … only experiences?
I’m not saying it is easy. This life we chose right now is one of great contrast. However, if we choose to focus our attention on the gifts, the love, the blessings … we experience more of them. Pure and simple!

  1. Thank you Sunny for sharing this reminder to us all. I do believe things in life do happen to help us grow and change. Even when the situations are hard to cope with and understand at the time is happening….. thus falls true now with me and my daughters relationship having so many challenges but I have Faith and Hope that one day it will heal us both!! Stay open and ask the questions I mentioned. Sometimes it take a little while before you see the bigger picture. Thank you for sharing my friend!

  2. It seems so hard to believe when I have a brother in prison that I feel doesn’t belong there. He had a court appointed attorney that said he believed my brother was innocent yet he didn’t present much of the evidence. He told my brother to plead guilty so he would get out quicker. My brother refused to plead guilty as he didn’t want to lie. Jeff has had so many losses, and why? Jeff has helped so many people.
I grieve for him and with him. He got 7-1/2 years sentence. He’s 63.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience my friend. I am sending you lots of love and support as your heart heals and you look towards the future!

  3. So well said, Sunny. I’ve grieved over the sudden loss of my husband for more than three years, when one day I finally “got it”. The words “he’s always with you” seemed so empty, hollow, just something for people to say to try to make you feel better. No one can make you believe this, until you’re ready. As it happened with Sally, it wasn’t until after our mediumship reading that I knew that Jim was truly still with me. You shared messages from him that only he and I knew. You helped me to believe that yes…he IS there with me, although in a different form, he’s there! Once I felt peace knowing that he is still there, only in a different way, I was able to gain strength and move my thoughts to the whys. And now I am slowly understanding that all of this happened for a reason. It will never be ok with me, but it does help me to get out of bed in the morning. Instead of crying myself to sleep, I ponder the reasons. I’ve become calmer and closer with God, I am able to be a hopeful voice to others who are going through this. And thoughts continually come to mind about times, events and things that happened to me, to us prior to his loss that are clear to me now that I was being prepared for this loss. And I’m being led down this path, for a reason. This belief is honestly the one thing that keeps me pushing.

  4. Thank you for another uplifting way to view life experiences, Sunny! This shared story was very inspiring as to why I reach out to those who have passed on every day. May everyone have a terrific Tuesday!

  5. I attended a funeral yesterday of a club member who had taken his own life. This man seemed “cool” and was quite the macho guy.
As PR for the car club I had to infirm many who knew him well
This has opened a can of worms as no one was aware that he had mental health problems Hence now I am promoting awareness of such
Going to get links put in our club newsletter His passing has created this.
