It’s that time of year. A time when you think about your body… and wish it were different. Or … maybe it is always that time of year for you.
I was on one of my mentoring calls recently when one of my clients started talking about that fact that she was going away for a beach vacation and was not looking forward to the get-away with her husband … because she didn’t want to be seen in a swimsuit. She didn’t want to deal with the feelings and the people looking at her … thinking whatever they were thinking …
And, I said to her …
“YOU have already decided you aren’t going to have a good time … in advance … because you HATE your body. What if you just went in appreciation of your body and the amazing job it has done for you. I also reminded her that most people feel the same way … which means they are focused on their bodies, not yours … I strongly reminded her “Do NOT let YOUR judgment of YOUR body ROB you, your husband and your SPIRIT of a fabulous well-deserved and desired vacation. Don’t do it!”
Can you relate?
Most of us can at some point in our lives. Mine was in my early life. I remember not going places for that exact reason. Missing out on a lot of FUN things because I was so embarrassed of my FAT body. Man, did I learn from those HARD TIMES!!!!!
Now, I just appreciate the skin I am in … and I am so grateful and appreciative of my body and the amazing job it has done … in spite of my pissy attitude about it for much of my life. It truly is a miracle … and now, we are on the same team … and we work together … Such a great feeling 🙂
